Species profile

Cubaris sp "Emperor Bee"

Cubaris sp "Emperor Bee" is a striking tropical isopod admired for its regal golden-amber colouration and bold dark patterning. The head and front segments glow with warm honey tones, marked by a distinctive black crown, while a deep charcoal band runs through the middle of the body before giving way to a paler rear section. Part of the informal “bee” group within the hobby, alongside species such as Cubaris sp "Snow Bee" and Cubaris sp "Bumblebee", "Emperor Bee" stands out for its rich colours and particularly grand appearance.

"Emperor Bee" gets its name from the crown-like black marking across its golden head, giving the species a suitably regal appearance
