Cubaris sp "Lemon Blue"

Cubaris sp “Lemon Blue” is one of the most iconic Thai Cubaris, instantly recognisable by its beautiful blue body contrasted with vivid lemon-yellow edging. The species is associated with Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in Thailand, including the Khao Sam Roi Yot area, and is often compared with Cubaris sp “Jupiter”, which occurs nearby and shares a similarly striking yellow-and-blue palette. Unlike Jupiter, however, Lemon Blue typically shows a much more solid blue centre across the back rather than stronger banding.

Keepers have long reported that the rich yellow tones may fade over time, while diets rich in carotenoids such as beta-carotene and astaxanthin are commonly used to help maintain or restore the intensity of the yellow pigmentation. This makes Lemon Blue unusual in that husbandry can have a very visible effect on how impressive the colony looks
