Cubaris sp "Mango Sticky Rice"
Cubaris sp “Mango Sticky Rice” is a rare and beautifully subtle Thai isopod named after the famous Thai dessert. Rather than relying on bold blocks of colour, this species has a delicate pale apricot to translucent cream body crossed by darker purplish-blue to violet hues, creating an almost marbled appearance. Adults reach around 12 mm and tend to be shy and reclusive, often spending much of their time beneath cover. They are also regarded as relatively slow breeders, which has helped keep them uncommon and highly sought after in the hobby.
The “Mango Sticky Rice” name is inspired by Thailand’s famous dessert, but the exact origin of the hobby name is not well documented. The pale apricot body and darker contrasting markings loosely echo the mango-and-rice colour palette
