Pulchriphyllium giganteum "Tapah Hills" Nymphs
Pulchriphyllium giganteum 'Tapah Hills', commonly known as the Giant Malaysian leaf insect, is a fascinating species native to the West Malaysian tropics. As one of the largest known leaf insects, reaching up to ~110mm in length, it's a popular choice among entomologists and insect enthusiasts alike. Personally, this is one of my favourite leaf insect species — they are truly beautiful.
This species is parthenogenetic, meaning all nymphs are females. They will still produce eggs and start the next generation!
These nymphs are captive-bred (CB).
Care Information
- Size: L2/L3 nymphs (~35mm in length)
- Foodplant: Feeding well on bramble; also accepts oak species
- Temperature: 20–28 °C
- Humidity: 70–80% – mist enclosure daily or every other day
- Enclosure: Minimum 30 × 30 × 45 cm (W*L*H). Extra height preferred for moulting and climbing, especially considering this species size
